tbh vietnamese food is SO underrated

@saigon.square.the.glen has such a huge range of delish dishes to choose from, all packed full of flavour and spiceeee

we were lucky enough to try —

CHILLI PRAWN VERMICELLI SALAD with heapsss of beansprout, tangy fish sauce and pickled veg all on a bed of bouncy noodles. this was such a good amount heat and tasted super fresh, perfect for the summer

STIR FRIED BEEF RICE PAPER ROLLS that are made fresh to order!! unlike some other franchises, these bad bois were so fresh and tasty. the beef itself was perfectly seasoned and there was a generous amount of ingredients (incl. herbs!) inside each one

MI FLAT EGG NOODLE with bean curd and root vegetables! again, super tasty – we’ve never tried this before and were pleasantly surprised at the al dente noodles and the delish thicc soy sauce that you mix in

and of course, it wouldn’t be complete without vietnamese coffee! this was hands down (not even exaggerating) the BEST iced coffee i’ve ever had in my life. super strong, not watery at all and a good amount of sweetness without being sickly. perfect with the spice!

hs cakes

with two branches in melbourne (springvale and footscray), these legends have perfected the art of the perfect asian cake. their number one speciality? durian. chiffon. cake.

i know, i know – to someone who has never tried the king of fruits before this might sound (and smell) very, very strange. but trust me, this cake will change your life.

in between layers of fluffy chiffon cake, HS bakery combines a mixture of fluffy whipped cream and REAL durian pulp. not enough for you? how about 2 – 3 huuuge pieces of fresh durian right on top as well? the way that they incorporate the durian pulp in between the layers ensures that the taste and aroma of the fruit itself is DEFINITELY in every single bite.

so, when you’re picking out a cake for your next celebration and wanna try something a bit different – definitely keep these guys in mind. just make sure you can air out the room afterwards.

the legendary dodee paidang restaurant in melbourne has launched their new delivery service – dodee delivery. authentic thai food that arrives at your doorstep… what more could you ask for?

DEEP FRIED MARINATED PORK BELLY ━ with heaps of crunchy crackling and the most delicious slightly spicy, slightly sweet sauce, this dish is a crowd pleaser. serve it on a bed on fluffy white rice and let all your dreams come true!

RED DUCK CURRY ━ filled with bamboo shoots, cherry tomatoes, chunky pieces of eggplant, pineapple, basil leaf and lychees! the sweetness of the lychee fruit compliments the spice of the chilli that absolutely hits you in the face. again, definitely recommend eating on a bed of rice to help soak up all that delishhh red curry sauce.

DODEE TOMYUM NOODLE ━ with a variety of combination meats like tender pork ribs, fish ball and pepper pork. the soup, like any good tom yum, is characterised by its distinct hot and sour flavours. they use fragrant spices and herbs generously to make sure it kicks a punch.

and last but definitely not least… PA TONG GO ━ their famous deep fried bread with the creamiest pandan custard dipping sauce. honestly, i was a bit worried about the quality of this dessert after travelling all the way from the cbd but it was still crunchy on the outside and oh so fluffy in the middle. what a way to finish!
